There is something you can try to recover your original session. Create a new session, and then go to File -> Import -> Session data, and select your original session. A window will appear with a bunch of options. Under the "Tracks" option you can click on a track and its destination will automatically change to "New track." This is just a way of opening a session's tracks one at a time. Go ahead and select all the tracks (you can do that quickly by clicking the first track, and then shift-clicking the last track) and then click "OK." If that still causes a crash, try importing a few tracks at a time, or even just one track at a time. Be sure to save your new session after importing each track. If you find that there's one specific track that's causing the crash, you can just import everything except that one track.
